Bradford Council has become the largest authority in the country to take tougher measures on climate change.
At a full council meeting two Green Party councillors put forward a motion calling for the authority to declare a “climate emergency”.
Some councillors warned that efforts to make the district more environmentally friendly would need to make sure they do not disadvantage the poorest people in Bradford with extra charges.
