Bradford sales staff working at the "Top of Town" are being offered free training which will make them the best in the world.
Bradford Council's City Centre Management Team are offering the training to improve the skills of employers and traders who serve the public.
Currently 246 people working in the city centre have successfully completed WorldHost training but 400 need to be trained and 100 businesses have to train at least 50 per cent of their customer-facing staff before the city can be awarded WorldHost Destination Status.
Normally the training is paid-for, but has been offered free to the businesses at the top of town to give them a boost.
Among cities to have the status are Liverpool, Derry and Sheffield.
Bradford Council's Executive member for Regeneration, Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, said: "We have some fantastic markets and independent retailers in the city, particularly at the top of town."
"I am inviting businesses on North Parade, Rawson Quarter and the Oastler Centre to take advantage of this free training. We want to support them and help them increase their sales and become ambassadors for Bradford."
Councillor Imran Khan, Bradford Council's Executive member for Education, Employment and Skills, (pictured) said: "We are hoping to be a WorldHost destination by the start of the Tour de Yorkshire in April 2017."
"I am delighted that Skillshouse continues to provide such a valuable service to the District. As well as helping almost 700 people into work, Skillshouse has also helped businesses to provide an excellent customer experience through their work on the WorldHost initiative."
