Environmental Enforcement Officers from Bradford Council have seized another vehicle involved in fly-tipping around the district.
The driver and a passenger of the white Ford Transit van were captured on CCTV fly-tipping a large amount of builders and commercial waste from the vehicle in the Undercliffe area of the district.
The vehicle identified on the CCTV footage was located by Bradford East Environmental Enforcement Officers parked just a few streets away from where the fly-tipping occurred.
Officers from the council with the assistance of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team seized the vehicle shortly after it was located. An investigation is ongoing and those associated with the vehicle are due to be interviewed.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: "This collaborative working between our Environmental Enforcement Officers and West Yorkshire Police meant that we were able to take another vehicle involved with fly-tipping off the road and disrupting the illegal waste activities of those involved. If the vehicle is unroadworthy and has no resale value it will be crushed."
Householders have a legal duty of care to ensure that their waste carrier is registered and legitimate waste carriers will be happy to produce the relevant documents.
Residents can check the Environment Agency website to see the register of licensed waste carriers - environment.data.gov.uk/public-register/view/search-waste-carriers-brokers
Anyone who sees fly-tipping taking place is asked to note down as many details as possible, including vehicle registration numbers and inform the council.
