
A new system of broadcasting is due to descend on Bradford, City-wide digital radio. OFCOM has announced the advertisement of Round One (25 areas) due to be awarded a Small-Scale Digital Radio (SSDAB) Multiplex
Bradford Digital Media will be applying for the upcoming SSDAB multiplex operator’s licence and is reaching out to prospective programme service providers. Bradford’s new SSDAB platform will reach some 335,000 adults in and around the city and the ambition is to provide an affordable long-term digital future for many existing broadcasters (community and commercial), as well as new entrants.
Bradford Digital Media Limited brings together a range of specialist skills, local knowledge and combined radio experience of more than 70 years from key members.
Bradford Ambassador, Raj Parmar, director of Bradford Digital Media and independent local radio station, Sunrise Radio explains: “Bradford will become one of the first local areas in the UK to be licensed to broadcast for SSDAB. With this platform we will see some amazing opportunities for truly hyper local community and commercial stations.
We plan to bring a variety of radio formats catering for a wide range of tastes, interests, communities and age groups.”
The award will take place early 2021 with deadlines for the application on 23rd November 2020.
