An award-winning hotel owner’s £35,000 insurance fraud came to light after he was spotted in the press.
Richard Moore, 33, from Bury, Greater Manchester, received payments from an Aviva income protection policy after claiming he was too ill to work.
Aviva launched an investigation and spotted him in newspapers receiving awards as the managing director and owner of The Victoria in Walshaw, Bury, during the period he claimed he was incapacitated.
He received a suspended sentence at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court and was also ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.
