On 25 November Bradford is joining the call to end violence against women on White Ribbon Day.
White Ribbon UK was founded in 2007 and is part of a global movement encouraging men to play their part in eliminating male violence against women.
Bradford Council is a ‘White Ribbon Accredited Local Authority’ and during the UN’s ‘16 Days of Activism to end gender-based violence’ council employees – who are also White Ribbon Ambassadors – will be raising awareness and encouraging men to pledge “never to commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women” at a variety of internal and external events.
On Monday 26 November 11.30am to 4.00pm ambassadors will be speaking to members of the public at a White Ribbon stand in The Broadway shopping centre.
Coun Abdul Jabar Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Community Safety said: “The message from the White Ribbon campaign to “never commit, condone or remain silent about male violence towards women” is an important one. We hope by Bradford Council supporting this campaign we can play our part in bringing about really change in our society.”
