Officers have arrested an eighth person in connection with the murder of Abdul Hafidah in Moss Side.
Yesterday morning, Thursday 2 June 2016, police arrested a 20 year-old man from the Moss Side area on suspicion of murder.
Seven other people - five men and two youths - were previously arrested in connection with this investigation and have since been bailed.
Officers were called to Moss Lane East at about 5.15pm on Thursday 12 May 2016 after 18-year-old Abdul was seriously injured.
It is believed he was chased near to Greenheys Lane in Moss Side by a group of men and then a short time later was involved in a collision with a blue Vauxhall Corsa on Moss Lane East. The car was later recovered from a small road off Athol Road in Whalley Range.
He was taken to hospital with stab wounds to the neck and abdominal injuries but sadly died on Saturday 14 May 2016.
A Home Office post-mortem examination found that Abdul died as a result of a stab wound to the neck.
Detective Chief Inspector Terry Crompton, for GMP's City of Manchester team, said: "This is now our eighth arrest in connection with the events of that day when Abdul was taken from his family.
"We will not stop here and we will continue to progress this investigation and carry on with our enquiries.
"I would still ask anyone who might have information to do with Abdul's murder to please contact police.
"If you have footage or pictures which could shed some light on the attack then you can submit them through our dedicated Dropbox link."
