West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s district commander has pledged to make Bradford a safer place to live and work.
Group Manager Martin Speed has set out his goals for the Bradford district over the next 12 months in his Action Plan 2016-2017.
Among the many aims, Group Manager Speed plans to reduce the number of fires and other emergencies by targeting those most vulnerable, strengthen existing and create new partnerships, as well as deliver a safe and competent emergency response through extensive training.
Group Manager Speed said: “Our aim is to make Bradford district a safer place to live and work. We will do this primarily through prevention activities such as home fire safety checks in people’s homes and fire safety visits to workplaces. We will also train hard to ensure that, when required, our response to emergencies is highly professional and effective.”
He added: “During the next year, work will start on the new fire station in Valley Road. The new station will be better placed to respond to some of our higher risk areas around Bradford city centre. The new station will replace the current stations in Shipley and Idle.”
