
Police have released footage of man they want to identify over an assault on an officer in Leeds.
The officer was punched in the face and kicked to the head and neck while on the ground as he and his colleague responded to a large gathering in breach of Covid-19 rules.
The incident happened on land next to Meanwood Community Centre, in Stainbeck Avenue, Meanwood, between 11pm and midnight on Tuesday, July 21.
Bottles and pieces of wood were thrown at the officers during the incident and their police vehicle was damaged.
Additional officers attended and the crowd was dispersed. Two men were arrested at the scene and later released under investigation.
The incident is being treated as violent disorder and detectives from Leeds District CID are investigating.
