Four men have appeared in court following an attack on a rival cab firm
The incident occurred on 25 December 2018, with brothers Mahboob and Dawoud Hussain, Mohammed Shabir and Ben Egan engaging in an attack on the premises of Ace Budget Cars on Thornton Road.
Appearing at Bradford Crown Court, it was heard how the group threw a petrol can, a cone and wheelie bins, as well as kicking cars and throwing punches as they tried to gain entry to the office.
The court heard that both Mahboob and Dawoud Hussain and Shahbir had been working at rival company, A&M Taxis - also in Thornton Road – when they launched the attack.
They had been receiving threatening phone calls in the run-up to the incident and late on Christmas Eve a brick was thrown through the window of a vehicle outside the office, prompting the trio of men pursuing the vandal.
The dispute reached a boiling point at the premises of Ace Budget Cars, where the three men were joined by Egan, who had been drinking.
All four men attempted to force their way into the cab office, and the prosecution said around £1,000 of damage was inflicted on the property.
Each of the defendants pleaded guilty to charges of affray and were each handed a six-month suspended prison sentence by Judge Colin Burn, with Mahboob Hussain and Egan ordered to complete 150 and 180 hours of unpaid work respectively.
