A man has been jailed for hurling racist abuse at staff at a job centre in Bradford.
Fadhil Misalati, a Libyan national, called a female member of staff who was wearing a hijab “the devil” before spitting at and racially abusing a security officer.
The prosecutor at Bradford Crown Court said Misalati, who has been living in the UK for 15 years, became angry when he was not allowed to take coffee with him to his appointment on 6 March.
It is believed the 31-year-old was homeless and sleeping rough in the city centre.
He pleaded guilty to two offences of using racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words and behaviour and a charge of racially aggravated common assault.
He was jailed for 15 months.
