
A man has been arrested after a pensioner was seriously injured in a dog attack
Police received reports of a woman having been attacked by a dog in the vicinity of Engine Fields, in Kirk Lane, Yeadon at 9:39am on Tuesday morning.
Officers attended and a 72-year-old woman was found seriously injured.
She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by ambulance where she is currently in a stable condition with serious injuries.
A 50-year-old man also received minor injuries in the incident.
A 22-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous dog offences and is currently in custody. The dog involved has been seized.
A scene was put in place as police carried out enquiries throughout the day.
Appealing for information on the incident, Detective Inspector James Entwistle, of Leeds District CID, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident this morning or who has any other information that could assist the investigation.
“We understand there may have been previous incidents in the same area where people have been chased by the same dog and we are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has been involved in those.”
