A man armed with a gun held a woman hostage in a house in Oldham.
A large armed police presence descended on the scene and neighbours were evacuated from surrounding properties on Pemberton Way in Shaw while police negotiators engaged with the man.
The gas supply to the area had also been turned off as a precaution.
It is reported a young child and a baby were also in the house when police arrived at 3.15am this morning, 25 July, but they were both safely taken out of the property a couple of hours later.
