Police are appealing for information after a man was injured in a firearms discharge in Leeds.
Enquiries are ongoing today following the discharge in the early hours of Friday (3 August) morning on Tong Road, Armley, in Leeds.
Officers are not linking the incident with a targeted fatal firearms discharge on Reginald Street, Chapeltown on Wednesday this week for which three persons have now been arrested.
Emergency services were called to Tong Road, Leeds at about 1.06am to reports a man had received leg injuries in a shooting in the street.
Police and ambulance services attended the incident and a man was taken to hospital for treatment for none life threatening injuries.
It is believed the victim was injured after a weapon was discharged from a passing vehicle.
Superintendent Jo Morgan of Leeds District Police, said: “We understand there will be public concern following this incident and the shooting on Reginald Street earlier this week, and I want to reassure residents these incidents are being treated extremely seriously.
“Both enquiries remain under investigation by specialist officers from our Homicide and Major Enquiry Team and we believe that both shootings have been targeted offences with no links between them.
“Our neighbourhood policing teams are active in communities carrying out reassurance work and we are liaising with community partners to inform them of the situation.”
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Gibson of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “A number of enquiries are ongoing this morning regarding the incident on Tong Road, which we believe was a targeted attack.
“Tong Road is a busy location and it is possible people would have been around still at the time. I would encourage anyone who saw what happened or has any information to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team on 101 regarding crime number 13180383103.
