A Batley man who attacked a man in the street with a rounders bat when a family dispute boiled over has been jailed for more than five years.
Bradford Crown Court heard that 27-year-old Samir Hussain hit Mohammed Yaqoob numerous times with a bat which he had taken off the victim who had been travelling with his young son when Hussain stopped him to discuss the family dispute.
Mr Yaqoob suffered a fractured left forearm and an open fracture to his left leg.
Samir Hussain, of Dark Lane, Batley who pleaded guilty to a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent on the day he was due to stand trial was jailed for 61 months.
The Judge also imposed an indefinite restraining order which bans Hussain from contacting Mr Yaqoob directly or indirectly and prohibits Hussain from going to the street where Mr Yaqoob lives in Staincliffe.
