The Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford will attend a memorial service to mark the 11th anniversary of the tragic killing of PC Sharon Beshenivsky today.
The short service will take place in Norfolk Gardens in Bradford city centre from 3.20pm on Friday 18 November.
Flowers will be laid at PC Beshenivsky's memorial in Norfolk Gardens by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Alun Griffiths on behalf of the district, Deputy Chief Constable John Robins and Chief Superintendent Scott Bisset on behalf of West Yorkshire Police and the Bradford district.
A minute's silence will be observed at 3.30pm - the time of the call to the travel agents in Morley Street, where PC Beshenivsky was shot and fatally wounded attending a robbery.
The Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford, Coun Alun Griffiths, said: "The people of the Bradford district appreciate and respect our serving police officers and the risks they face daily in carrying out their duties.”
"Sharon made the ultimate sacrifice that day to protect the people of Bradford. And that dedication to duty is the same dedication we see from Officers and Police Community Support Officers every day throughout our district."
Chief Superintendent Scott Bisset, Bradford District Commander, said: "Many people across the communities of Bradford and beyond were appalled by the events of 11 years ago which led to the death of PC Sharon Beshenivsky. Sharon continues to be remembered with great fondness and the annual memorial service allows her family, friends and colleagues to come together and pay tribute to her.”
