A scheme in Leeds has seen around 250,000 single-use cups turned into bales and recycled into paper.
Around 600 disposable cups are used in Leeds every 10 minutes but worryingly only 1% are recycled nationally.
The #LeedsByExample campaign began in October, and has seen dedicated bins introduced to the city centre.
The project is one of the first of its kind in the UK and Leeds City Council hopes similar schemes will be rolled out across the country.
