More than 400 people have been arrested as part of a policing operation targeting offenders who use the roads of West Yorkshire to commit or flee from crimes.
Named Operation Spawood, the activity has seen officers deployed across the county’s roads alongside additional specialist resources such as the Dog Support Unit and police helicopter to target offenders.
The operation commenced in November, and in the first three months has seen over 400 arrests, with 33 per cent of those being charged for offences. Many others remain on police bail or under investigation.
