Plans to improve one of the busiest areas of Leeds city centre has had backing from the regional authority.
The £20 million project will see The Headrow and surrounding streets renovated with new protected cycle lanes and extra pedestrian crossings.
If planning is approved, the project is expected to be completed by June 2020.
West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) pledged its support by awarding £500,000 to develop the project to full business case stage.
WYCA hopes the scheme will increase the use of public transport and encourage more cycling.
