Police are appealing for information after an elderly man was stabbed in an incident in Leeds early today.
At 3.58am this morning, the victim, a 72-year-old man, went to the BP filling station, in Otley Road, Headingley, and told staff he had been attacked.
Ambulance staff attended and confirmed he had a stab wound to his back. He was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life threatening.
The victim reported being approached from behind in nearby Moor Road by a male who stabbed him and ran off.
A number of scenes were put in place in the area to undergo examination.
Detective Inspector Carl Morrison, of Leeds District Crimes Investigation Department, said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything suspicious that could assist the investigation.”
