Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious sexual assault on the Upper Common Lane area in Clayton West on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 1pm when the female victim was walking along the road when she was approached by a man who then subjected her to the assault. He then made off in an unknown direction.
The woman, aged 37, was then found by a man and a woman in a car who gave the victim assistance. Officers are particularly keen to speak to the two people who gave help.
Detective Inspector Seth Robinson of the Kirklees Safeguarding Unit, said:
"I would appeal directly for any witnesses to this incident to come forward and particularly want to speak to the two people who came to the victim's assistance. This was a particularly nasty attack and the victim is being supported by specially trained officers."
