A Home Office post-mortem examination concluded that Jalal died from a head injury.
Superintendent Alistair Mallen from GMP’s Rochdale division said: “Our investigation into the murder of Jalal remains on-going.
“I would again like to thank the community for their patience and support whilst we carry out our enquiries and continue to appeal for any witnesses who may have been in the South Street area at the time of the attack, to please contact police.”
