A woman has been spared a sentence after she stole bank cards which belonged to a dying grandmother.
Kathleen Moore stole bank cards from a 69-year-old widow who has terminal bone cancer and used them several times before she was arrested in February. The 51-year-old used the cards’ contactless payment function in nearby shops to buy groceries and cigarettes.
The woman’s family were alerted after Barclays became suspicious about the transactions.
She been given an eight-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months following a hearing at Manchester Magistrates Court.
The victim’s daughter, Dawn Wright, said “she was disgusted after learning of what happened.”
Moore has been ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
