Greater Manchester Police have arrested a third person following a fatal collision in Denton.
On Tuesday 31 July a car failed to stop for officers and, during a short pursuit, it collided with several other vehicles, including a taxi and a man who was stood next to it.
The 64-year-old man, who has since been formally identified as Allen Ingram, received emergency treatment at the scene but sadly died as a result of his injuries.
A 37-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were arrested in the Vauxhall Mokka but a second man fled the scene.
A 26-year-old man presented himself at Cheadle Police Station yesterday (1 August) and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Chief Superintendent Neil Evans, territorial commander for Tameside, said: “Yesterday’s incident was truly distressing for everyone involved. We have specialist officers supporting Allen’s family and our thoughts will continue to be with them.
“He was an innocent man that tragically lost his life and I know that Allen’s family, together with our officers, other emergency services and the local community, have really felt the impact of this incident.
“The Independent Office of Police Conduct have launched their own investigation and we will openly provide them with every detail in support of their enquiries.
“Our investigation is still in its early stages and while we have a man in custody, I would continue to urge any witnesses or anyone with information to please get in touch with us.”
