Manchester Day returns this Sunday, 18 June, to celebrate the city’s diversity, solidarity and unity.
This year the parade – which begins at 1pm – will feature an additional element at the beginning that will pay tribute to those who lost their lives during the arena attack, their families and the emergency services.
Representing those who lost their lives, 22 young people each holding a balloon will lead the parade holding a banner that will read “MANCHESTER REMEMBERS”.
Just behind, uniformed emergency services personnel will walk honouring their heroic efforts following the attack.
There will be a few minutes gap before the Manchester Day Parade follows, led by Lord Mayor of Manchester, Cllr Eddy Newman, Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham, and Chair of Manchester Day, Cllr Pat Karney.
