Two men jailed for combined 26 months after family feud turned violent

Two men have been jailed for violent public exchanges following a family feud that got out of hand.

Shane Vickers, 20, and David Enright, 34, both appeared in the dock at Bradford Crown Court separately for the affray at the Co-op store in Victoria Road, Oakworth, Keighley, on June 23 last year.

The court heard that the incident occurred when Enright was driving past the shop and spotted Vickers inside.

He pulled up and retrieved a plastic ball on a chain from the boot of his car, which he then used to threaten the then-19-year-old Vickers, brandishing it outside the shop, saying: “Look what I’m going to do to you outside.”

In response, Vickers picked up a fire extinguisher and threw it at Enright’s car as he drove off.

In an initial hearing at Bradford Crown court, Vickers and Enright encountered each other, by chance, on the concourse, with Vickers swinging a punch which hit a woman who was with Enright in the back of the head, for which he was charged with witness intimidation.

As a result of the offences Enright, who is serving a 28-month sentence for assault, was jailed for 6 months, and Vickers was sent to a young offenders institute for 20 months.
