West Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner has pledged to support job security for the region’s Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).
Mark Burns-Williamson said that funding for more than 500 PCSOs in the county had been protected for the next two years and described their work as “integral” to neighbourhood policing.
The move comes after Norfolk became the first force to begin talks about making their PCSOs redundant in favour of recruiting more regular police officers.
