Preparatory work will start next week on the site of a new £17.5m leisure centre due to be built at Sedbergh Playing Fields in Bradford.
Initial work will involve earthworks and the felling of 119 trees. Some trees need to be removed to make way for the main construction of the centre and some to remove diseased and damaged trees that are in poor condition, however, more trees will be planted on the site than are being removed.
The council says the new energy efficient leisure centre will better meet the needs of local residents and will include features such as an activity pool with a movable floor to help younger or less able swimmers enter the water safely.
