Hundreds of children and young people from across the Bradford District are getting ready to take over a range of jobs as part of Takeover Challenge 2016.
This year, Bradford District will take a leading role as a ‘flagship’ for the Challenge which takes place on Friday, 18 November 2016.
The challenge is a national event, organised by the office of the Children’s Commissioner for England, which sees organisations across England open their doors to children and young people allowing them to take over adult roles.
The aim of the day is to put children and young people in decision-making positions and encouraging organisations and businesses to hear their views and gain from a fresh perspective on their work.
At the same time, children and young people gain an insight into the adult world and how businesses work.
This year, young people who are taking over and those who are being taken over can share their experiences through social media using Snapchat and Twitter using #TakeoverChallenge and @BradfordMDC.
Councillor Imran Khan, Portfolio Holder for Education, Employment and Skills, said: “Good luck to everyone who’s taking part in this year’s Takeover Challenge! It is a great way for children and young people to experience how an organisation works, and for businesses it’s a great opportunity to get a young person’s perspective on what you do.”
Councillor Val Slater, Bradford Council’s Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing, said: “It’s good news for the District that we’ve been asked to be a flagship for this year’s challenge. I want to thank all the organisations who have opened their doors to give the children and young people taking part this wonderful opportunity.”
