There appears a lack of unity on the way different personalities of the film industry feel about the debate over banning Pakistani artistes, stated Ajay Devgan.
A lot has been said on this subject and reviews of opinions show that there are divisions in the film industry. In the initial stages when the debate commenced after MNS sought a ban on Pakistani artistes, the first casualty was Karan Johar. He spoke boldly on the issue and disagreed with MNS and as a result he had to face the ire of the politicians, not just him, even Salman Khan said similar stuff when he was asked for his comment which centered around the fact that artistes are not terrorists and came to India with government visas. He also was subjected to criticism.
Those who sided and agreed with Karan were Varun Dhawan,Sidharth Malhotra and even Sushant Singh Rajput and they too had to face the ire of the various political parties and no support from their own industry people.
Opposing voices came from Anupam Kher, Ashoke Pandit and Nana Patekar and what stood out was the difference of opinion between Salman Khan and his longtime friend Ajay Devgan. It was surprising to see him taking sides with those who were opposite to Salman Khan.
When comments were sought from Ajay Devgan whether he felt upset about differing opinions. he said, “Upset in the sense, it’s saddening, it is saddening. I don’t know what the reasons are and I don’t even believe they are human beings who are scared at this point of time.
