Is 'Dear Zindagi' being sued by the Canadian Tv Show?

Despite director Gauri Shinde rubbishing rumours that Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt starrer 'Dear Zindagi' has been inspired by a Canadian show, 'Being Erica', it seems the filmmakers are now in trouble.

According to the latest reports, 'Dear Zindagi' may have been served a legal notice for copyright infringement.

Talking about this latest development, "Karan and the Dharma CEO, Apoorva Mehta were not aware that DZ was inspired in such detail from the Canadian show." Meanwhile, Gauri Shinde maintains that her script is original. According to the reports, the makers are now trying to figure how to sort it out amicably.

This is the first time Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has faced a plagiarism charge. However, Dharma CEO Apoorva Mehta has denied the reports. "It's not true... We haven't received anything at all," he said.

Earlier, in an interview, Gauri Shinde had denied the allegations. She had said that she has not watched the TV show in question. The director had in fact said that these allegations were an attempt to malign 'Dear Zindagi'.
