The legendary Rekha was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award last night at the Dubai International Film Festival in Dubai.
The actress, who was dazzling in a gold brocade sari, was given the coveted award along with Hollywood actor Samuel L Jackson and French-Lebanese composer Gabriel Yared who were also given the same award. The trio were presented their awards by the President of the Dubai International Marine Club, Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum,
Reportedly, Rekha who is known for being a lady of few words, had quite a bit to say at the podium. She reportedly joked that had it been the Oscars, she would have been cut short by music, also going on to state her love for the city of Dubai, “The saying goes love thy neighbour and that’s not the only reason I love Dubai. Many years ago when I first stepped in this place, I knew it was God’s place. I’ve seen you go from strength to strength,” she said.
Rekha was also present at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai for a press event and photo call for Dubai International Film Festival this morning. The star was seen in a parisian styled desi outfit that made her look even more exotic than she usually does.
Dubai International Film Festival will run until December 14, at Madinat Jumeirah and selected cinemas around Dubai.
