12-year-old boy allegedly gang-raped by teenagers in Pakistan

A 12-year-old boy was allegedly gang-raped by a group of teenagers in Pakistan.

The incident is claimed to have taken place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Shangla district, where a group of five boys in their late teens are accused of sexually assaulting the complainant.

Police have said the boy was medically examined, which confirmed the assault. The five suspects have been taken into custody and DNA samples were collected from them.

Cases of sexual assault against minors have come under greater scrutiny in the country following the rape and murder of six-year-old Zainab Ansari in Kasur, whose body was recovered from a rubbish heap in January.
