At least 16 Indian security force personnel were killed in an attack by suspected Maoist militants.
The Hindustan Times reports that the troops were targeted by a landmine blast in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra state.
The improvised explosive device (IED) blast is believed to be a retaliation by the Maoists after 40 extremists were gunned down by security forces on 22 April last year near Bhamragarh in the district.
