39 dead after IS capture to return to India

The bodies of 39 Indian workers who were killed by Islamic State militants (IS) in Iraq are to be returned home next week.

The Indian nationals were taken hostage in Mosul in 2014. The government in Delhi maintained they were alive until DNA of the workers matched with bodies found in a mass grave.

Most of the murdered are thought to be from the Punjab region, where relatives have spoken out over only finding out about the discovery through TV channels.
