8-year-old girl burnt alive after alleged rape in Pakistan

Protesters took to the streets after a girl, who was allegedly burnt alive following a rape, died in a Lahore hospital.

The 8-year-old went missing on Sunday evening (8 April) in the Chichawatni area of Sahiwal district. She was later found by rescuers on the street in an unconscious state and covered with burns. She died in hospital on Monday night (9 April).

The father of the victim demanded the government to provide his family justice.

An official stated a case has been registered and a suspect has been taken into custody.
