The campuses of Abdul Wali Khan University in Pakistan reopened yesterday, 21 May, 40 days after the murder of Mashal Khan.
Khan, a student of the university, was lynched by a mob of students on 13 April for the alleged posting of blasphemous content online. The allegations have since been proven to have been false.
There was a large police presence at the campuses and the university administration has declared that all political activity inside the institution will remain banned.
Police reported recovering weapons and drugs during searches of university accommodation, before the opening of the campuses.
More than 50 suspects were arrested by security forces after the killing of Mashal Khan. They are due to appear before the counter-terrorism court.
