The Christian woman at the centre of a blasphemy case that has sparked demonstrations across Pakistan has been freed from jail.
Asia Bibi was convicted in 2010 after being accused of insulting the Prophet Muhammad in a row with her neighbours and was put on death row.
However, following an appeal she has now been set free.
The verdict sparked protests across Pakistan and police have claimed over 1,000 people were arrested.
Bibi’s release has spread confusion, with some sources reporting she has left the country. Pakistan’s Foreign Office later said she was still in the country.
It is believed her family and lawyer are seeking asylum from Western countries.
