Following the incident which sparked mass protests across the capital, the country’s elite police force, Rapid Action Battalion, have revealed they have arrested the suspect, a man who is believed to be a "serial rapist".
Speaking on the arrest of the suspect, a police spokesperson said: “He was identified as Maznu and had earlier raped beggars and physically challenged women. He is also a drug addict.”
According to reports, the police have revealed Maznu confessed to the crime, explaining how he followed the student, grabbed her from the back, gagged her and took her to an isolated area before raping her.
