Canada in talks over Asia Bibi asylum

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced his country is in talks with Pakistan to offer Asia Bibi asylum.

Asia Bibi was convicted in 2010 after being accused of insulting the Prophet Muhammad in a row with her neighbours and was put on death row.

However, following an appeal she has now been set free and is understood to be in a safe place after demonstrations took place in cities across Pakistan over her release.

It is believed several governments have offered to grant her family asylum.
