A cargo ship caught fire whilst travelling to Kolkata from Andhra Pradesh.
All 22 crew members were rescued from the vessel, which went up in flames near Sagar at the confluence of Hooghly river and the Bay of Bengal.
Reports say almost the entire cargo was damaged.
Authorities claim no fuel has spilled into the water, but they are prepared for if such a situation arises.
