Protests by the Dalit caste community in India brought disruption to Mumbai.
Key transport services were brought to a standstill as Dalit groups protested against violence involving right-wing Hindu groups in Pune city on Monday 1 January.
Buses have been damaged and schools shut following eruptions of violence after one man was killed in clashes as Dalits marked the 200th anniversary of a battle they won, fighting alongside British colonial forces, against an upper caste ruler.
More than 100 protesters have since been arrested.
