Aid charities in Pakistan claim they have been ordered to leave the country.
One of the charities affected, ActionAid, told the BBC the move was part of a "worrying escalation of recent attacks on civil society" in Pakistan.
The NGOs, which also include Plan International, have been told they have 60 days to cease operations.
But in a letter to ActionAid they were told they could "re-apply for registration" in six months' time.
It is believed 18 charities have been ordered to leave in total. The move comes amidst increasing concerns by human rights activists and press freedom campaigners about freedom of expression in the country.
The Pakistani Interior Ministry has not commented on the cases.
