An investigation has been launched against a senior Pakistan civil servant after a wallet was stolen from a Kuwaiti delegate.
Zarar Haider Khan, the joint secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production in Pakistan, is accused of stealing the wallet containing cash during an official function.
CCTV footage appears to show the suspect pocketing the wallet, which had been left on a table.
According to Pakistani news sources, the "extremely angry" Kuwaiti delegation insisted that the suspect be identified.
The incident has generated further controversy after mainstream and social media circulated the story with an accompanying picture of an innocent man who resides in the United States.
