A Delhi court has today sentenced Karnataka Congress leader DK Shivakumar to additional five days of custody regarding a money laundering case.
Shivakumar, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on September, was produced before the court on the expiry of his 9-day custodial interrogation.
The Enforcement Directorate told the court that during the interrogations, the Congress leader “had been evasive in his replies” and gave answers intentionally designed to derail the investigation.
Speaking on behalf of the Enforcement Directorate, Additional Solicitor General, KM Natara said: "Shivakumar is withholding information which is solely in his knowledge."
The court later heard that Shivakumar was suffering from health issues, and was being interrogated 10 hours per day, despite huis “frail health.”
In response, Special judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar said that he will be medically examined every morning before his questioning starts - no questioning will take place without a prior medical examination.
The case is ongoing
