Eight arrested over Lahore constable death

Eight suspects have been taken into custody following the death of a traffic constable in Lahore.

Local reports say police had already arrested the prime suspect on Monday, 1 January, a man identified as Mohammad Saeed.

It is believed that on New Year’s Eve Saeed was speeding, lost control of the vehicle and then crashed through a check post manned by two constables. One died whilst being transported to hospital and the other remains under treatment.

The owner of the vehicle, said to be a friend of Saeed’s, was one of those taken into custody today, 2 January.
