Eight police officers have been arrested in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh following the death of a man in custody who was arrested on suspicion of gangrape.
On 4 July a girl believed to be aged around 15-years-old was found dead in a forested area in Shimla.
Six people were subsequently arrested in connection with the case and one died in what local media have called “under mysterious circumstances in police custody”.
A spokesperson from the Central Bureau of Investigation said a probe has been opened to determine whether any of the officers are responsible for the man’s death.
