Heavy rains claim nine lives in Punjab

    A recent spell of heavy rain and storms has claimed the lives of at least nine people in the Punjab region of Pakistan.

    It is believed dozens more have been seriously injured.

    According to reports three labourers were killed when the roof of a house collapsed on Lahore’s Raiwind Road.

    A father and son were also killed after being buried under the rubble of a collapsed school wall in Ahmadpur Sial.

    In Bahawalpur, the roof of a house fell in, resulting in the death of one woman and two others being injured.

    Another roof collapse left four people injured, including children, in Lahore’s Green Town area.

    Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has predicted that the current spell of rain will continue till Thursday.
