1000s of social media users in India are criticising the chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao of southern Telangana state for allegedly using over $750,000 of public funds to offer gold at a famous temple.
On Wednesday the CM is thought to have offered gold to "thank the gods" for the success of his decade-long campaign.
Officials say at this a point the claims are speculation and a full investigation is under way into the origins of the funds used by Rao
