Seven Indian policemen have been suspended for allowing far-right nationalists to attack young couples in the southern city of Cochin.
Members of the Shiv Sena group attacked unmarried couples on the city's promenade as police watched from their cars.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said “The police did not act when the incident took place that was a grave mistake. This group has no significant presence in the state and we cannot allow them to think otherwise. The officers have been punished and the investigations will continue!”
